Juan is a Syrian cartoonist who lives in Istanbul. For the last fifteen years he has been drawing cartoons. His work is very know in the Middle East. Juan mostly makes cartoons about the Syrian war, prisoners in Syria and refugees

Mohamed Anwar

Mohamed Anwar is an editorial cartoonist and visual artist, who has worked under the name of “Anwar” since 2007. He was awarded Mostafa and Ali Amin journalism prize as best cartoonist in Egypt in 2017. Anwar has been publishing his cartoons at AlmasryAlyoum daily newspaper since 2010, with focus on Political and economical issues. He started off working as a cartoonist “El-Badeel” newspaper, while attending the biomedical engineering school in Cairo University. Anwar has contributed in several publications and exhibitions regionally and internationally. Beside his interest in visual arts, Anwar has a passion in discovering the relation between technology, visual expression and journalism.

Hamid Sulaiman is a Syrian painter and illustrator, currently living in Paris. He will present his first comic book ‘Freedom Hospital’. FREEDOM HOSPITAL Sulaiman found inspiration for the book from true stories of people around him, from the beginning of the war in Syria, the first peaceful protests of 2011 to the first signs of IS.

It took him to jungles where Che Guevara used to fight, it took him to the jail where Nelson Mandela used to reside in and it showed him the importance to respect, love and forgive others, like Gandhi. is born in 1987 in Kuwait. He started drawing cartoons at the age of 14 and at 15 he won the first price in a drawing competition in his home town. As a kid he saw making cartoons as something fun to do, as a joke, until the manager of his school in Syria forced him to stop drawing after he made a cartoon about Palestine.

is a Syrian artist and political cartoonist, from a nice city called Hama. Recently he lives in Saudi Arabia, where he is working in an advertising agency as creative director. Hakam studied arts in the Faculty of Fine Arts of Damascus University from 1996 until 1999.

is a cartoonist and animation director. He is born 1983 and lives in Amman, Jordan. He began his career as cartoonist during university and received the first prize in the ‘Jordanian universities cartoon contest’ for 2002 and 2003. From 2004 to 2008 he worked as a cartoonist in the daily Al-Ghad newspaper.

was born in 1968 in Damascus, Syria. He studied fine art in Damascus. Currently he lives in sweden. He started working as a cartoonist in 1993. Saad’s work was published in the most important and known newspapers in the Arab world: ‘Alnahar’ (Lebanon), ‘Alsafir’ (UK), ‘Alahram’ (Egypt) and ‘Alquds Alaraby’ (UK). As well Saad’s cartoons were published in ‘Le monde’ newspaper.
